Google’s Adsense is not an affiliate program in the broadest sense of the word, but you can find that you will make a little extra money on the side. Adsense is what is known as a Pay Per Click (PPC) program. You place the special code in different places on your website, and when a visitor clicks on it, you get paid. It is as simple as that, but it is still not as easy as it sounds.

Unlike an affiliate program in which you are usually trying to get someone to buy a product so that you can get a commission, each click from Adsense puts a few pennies in your pocket. These pennies will quickly add up, depending on the amount of website visitors you have.

If there is ever a program that works on the number of visitors, it is Adsense. If you receive millions of website hits every week, it is fair to say that you will also receive a few hundred to hundreds of thousands of dollars from Adsense. The more visitors you have the more clicks you will receive and more money you have on your monthly check.

Adsense issues a check once a month to any member who has made over one hundred dollars at the end of the two months prior. For example, if the month is now October, you will receive a check if you made over one hundred dollars at the end of August. Your September paycheck will be issued in November if you met the hundred dollar cut off.

People like the Problogger Rowse, have learned to use Adsense to the fullest. Rowse makes hundreds of thousands of dollars each month from his home in Australia and as the years pass by, his income is not dropping. He has literally turned Adsense into his own work at home business.

All of us cannot be Darren Rowse however, and in reality you will be lucky to make a few hundred dollars a year from Adsense, if you were to place it on your website. However, a few hundred dollars is always useful. You don’t have to build your website around, but you should find out where it is best placed on your website.

You will get the best results from Adsense by making sure that your keywords and site content are tightly focused. Do some research so that you know what people are searching for. Write your page content around the keywords that people use to search on that topic.

Adsense works by searching your site to see which keywords fit your site. Once this is found, Adsense will show relevant text ads or banners if you have chosen when you created your code. You can also show both text and banners links in one form. You don’t need to kill yourself trying to become a millionaire using Adsense but you can add it to your websites as a way to make money on the side of your affiliate sites.
